Control accounts and estimate-at-completion methods

Short answer: Open the project's Cost page and choose Control accounts to split the budget into parts someone owns; budget moves only through recorded movements. On the Cost page, choose how the estimate at completion (EAC) is worked out; each method shows its formula.

Steps

  1. Open the project, choose Cost and then Control accounts. Create an account (for example 01-CIVIL) with its owner.
  2. Use Record a budget movement for approved changes, transfers between accounts or contingency draws. Movements are never edited; record a reversing movement to correct one.
  3. Book costs and commitments against an account on the Cost page.
  4. On the Cost page, under the forecast, choose how the estimate at completion is worked out:

Current cost performance continues: EAC = BAC ÷ CPI.
